My Favourite Heat Protectant Sprays for Hair [Ranking of TOP 5 Products]

In today’s post I want to bring up a big hair care topic – heat protection while using a hairdryer, flat-iron or curling wand. I have a question: do you remember to secure your hair with a special protector or do you skip this step? To be honest, I used to think that thermal protection products were a waste of money. Now I see what they can do and they’re my daily hair care must-haves.

I’ll share my top thermal protection sprays for hair. There are five of them so I’m sure everyone will choose the right one for their own hairdo.

Do you remember the days when shampoo was the only hair product? I do! Now, I’m a true hair-care lover so hair products take up half of my bathroom space. I always have two shampoos, at least three masks and conditioners, and extra products such as hair oil for hair ends, scalp treatments and a heat protectant spray. Usually I let my hair dry naturally, but reach for a dryer when I’m in a hurry. Not to waste all my hair care efforts, I always apply such spray first. My hair no longer gets dry as it used to get every time I heat styled it. Plus, many heat protectants have extra benefits e.g. add smoothness, glosiness, manageability… and do much more! On top of that, applying such a product takes a few seconds and most of such cosmetics aren’t costly. Get one – you won’t regret it! Now, let’s move on to my beloved products.

Ranking of 5 Best Heat Protection Sprays for Hair

Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray

product website: www.nanoil.co.uk

I’ve used Nanoil’s products for a long time. Their keratin-rich hair mask is my all-time favourite. Once I saw Nanoil released a new spray I got myself one. I had a feeling it would rock as soon as I used it for the first time, and I was right. I love it for the super light texture and easy use. A little goes a long way. The 200-ml bottle last me really long. Now the effect. First, I feel that my hair is moisturised and doesn’t get hurt when I use some heated devices. The spray also gives amazing glossiness and smoothness, and my hair feels much softer. Such effects last all day. That’s why I love to use it even when I style my hair without hot tools. Last but not least, Nanoil’s heat protector is a steal! The price is really encouraging.

Davines Haircare Melu Hair Shield

Davines is another brand that I’m faithful to. Their products aren’t budget friendly but I think they’re good value for money. Davines Haircare Melu Hair Shield is dedicated to long and damaged hair. Mine is medium-length and I like the effects but I don’t know about short hair. After a few uses I noticed it really is effective for protecting from thermal damage. Additionally, it reduces static flyaways, adds smoothness and delivers shine. The manufacturer promises the spray also prevents breakage but I prefer to use my serum for hair ends to make sure they’re safe. Davines Haircare Melu Hair Shield is 250 ml and lasts long. It’s easy to use. Again, it’s costly – the most expensive heat protector in my collection.

Moroccanoil Color Complete Spray

Must-know: this spray is designed specially for colored hair and I don’t recommend it for natural hair which is usually in better condition. It has a long list of ingredients and to be honest, I think some of them are unnecessary. It’s easy to use but we need a large amount. When it comes to benefits, it has an intensive smoothing and shine-increasing effect. As a heat protectant, it secures the hair from thermal damage, but isn’t as powerful as the other sprays in my ranking. There are 50 ml and 160 ml bottles to choose from, and you can often get it in a gift set. I’ve got the smaller one because it’s great for travel, plus I don’t use it often.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer

Here’s another product which comes in two size versions: travel-size 60 ml, and standard 250 ml. I got myself the bigger one and I guess it wasn’t a good idea. It includes six oils which tend to leave my hair feeling heavy and unfresh. The smaller amount, the better – that’s a good tip if you want to try it. I suggest rubbing a few drops of the product between the palms and spreading it across the hair. I focus on the hair ends. I definitely like the scent which stays on my hair all day. It’s a good heat protectant but I doubt I’ll buy it again.

Schwarzkopf OSIS+ Flatliner

Even though it’s not as multifunctional as the previous products, I like to use it from time to time. It’s a perfect choice before straightening routine because of an intensive smoothing effect. It also adds manageability to hair, gives a nice shine boost and softness. If your hair is prone to humidity frizz, then I definitely recommend Schwarzkopf OSIS+ Flatliner. It’s also easy to use. It doesn’t go well with a curler, though. I think it’s a good primer before straightening. And it has a good price. It’s the cheapest product in my round-up.

The list of my favourite products is complete. I recommend trying at least one. Better hair is guaranteed! Just remember to use it regularly.

Do you have favourite heat protectant sprays? Are they on my list? I’d love to try a new thing! <3
